Alumni and parents gathered for homecoming day

The 6th Homecoming Day series activities were held in UIC on 28 November. More than 300 alumni and 100 parents of first-year students gathered at UIC to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the college.

On the day of the event, President of UIC Prof Tang Tao, UIC Provost Prof Chen Zhi, and other members of senior management, together with alumni, parents and students' representatives, planted five Tabebuia chrysantha in the alumni garden in front of the T8 teaching building.

President Tang said that the Tabebuia chrysantha symbolizes the contributions the alumni given back to their alma mater and their support brought to the younger generation while carrying the beautiful memories the students, parents and teachers had together in UIC.

Prof Chen Zhi mentioned that the theme of this year's Homecoming Day was inspired by the Chinese poem Lisao by the well-known poet Qu Yuan. The poem carries the meaning of broadly imparting knowledge and constantly bringing positive influences to students, which also expressed Prof Chen's hope for UIC students to become virtuous and knowledgeable talents.

Later, teachers, students, alumni and parents jointly unveiled the Liberal Arts Stone, which means that the development of the college is based on Liberal Arts Education, and UIC would keep progressing this educational concept.
